Tezcatlipoca is Quetzalcoatl's adversary and ally in the old meso-American tales. He was a crafty sorcerer responsible for as much life and death as Quetzalcoatl. Tez was the Black Tezcatlipocas of the old tales. He held an obsidian mirror, on his chest or in his hand, with which to show the true nature of men. He seduced, sinned, destroyed, and killed. He represented everything dark and, as Quetzalcoatl and Huitzilopochtli were the Sun and Blue Sky, Tezcatlipoca was the Night Sky. Everything about him was mysterious and he was one of the most prominent gods of the Aztec world. Evil, in a way.
Both the god and Tez here are not all evil, the deity represented all unknown in the world and thus could seem pretty scary. But the guy was responsible for alot of good things too. Tezcatlipoca was a god of mercy, a god for the sick, he placed children in the wombs of their mothers and granted them their characteristics. He seduced more than a few goddesses, thus he was worshipped for love and flowers. Kind of the tall dark stranger you see riding that motorcycle down the street. You wouldn't take him to Ma and Pa, but he'd be welcome to share your couch.
Basically, everything you'd like in a guy! Sexy, rowr...

Tez the dragon is a milder version of the sorcerer god Tezcatlipoca and, like Quetz, is the original inspiration for the god in my comic. He's younger, about 12 maybe 13 in human years so just about approaching puberty. His feathers have all grown in, he's a competent flyer, and his feather-whiskers are beginning to show. Because Tezcatlipoca's mortal form is the jaguar, I made Tez more cat like and sturdy than his fellows. His face is also unusually short and his pupils are slits (yes, I know jaguars have round pupils, but he just looks cooler this way). His chest feathers are silver and highly reflective, just like a mirror! And his fire-breathing ability is very advanced; Tez can blow smoke (adults breathe smoke and very hot gases...not outright fire).
Tezcatlipoca's personality: sarcastic, caustic, stubborn, and easily irritated, also extremely arrogant! Because he is the oldest of the Tezcatlipocas group he feels the need to boss everyone around. And, as you may have noticed, he shares the group's name. The jerk named it after himself...oh the gall of that guy!!
