Digital painting for my 3D animation class at USC. We're supposed to illustrate an environment. I chose an ancient beach with a Gorgonopsid meandering across it (one of my favorite Permian-era beasties). I thought stromatolites would be a nice touch as they add some variety to the geography and also represent the truely ancient for paleo-fans.
Speed-painting, 4 or 6 hours (I forget), Corel Painter using artists oils, pastels, conte, charcoal, and oil pastel |

this one almost looks like the earliest canine ancestor even! i forget what the name is.. like.. cyon something.. Eucyon.. too small... Anyways!
Very magnificent grasp on the ocean tide foam, even though it was speed painted, it's very realistic, which is an unarguable mark of talent.
You captured the prehistoric feel of the animal as well, which i've only seen in a very few (or maybe cuz no one ever draws them heh( the other guy i adore for his animals =Norke his buckram
and the interesting rocks are like a playground to the eyes.
